Canon has recently released new updates to its R5C, R6 Mark II, and Flex Zoom lenses. The R6 Mark II is not in the cinema line, but it has features that make it easier for filmmakers and those looking to jump into the field. The camera comes with a full-frame sensor and can output 6K RAW to an external recorder. Internally, it shoots 4K, 10-bit 4:2:2 in AVC imagery, and has two SD card slots for simultaneous recording. The R5C has received a firmware update, reducing the time it takes to switch between photo and video modes. A new power-saving mode has also been added. Canon‘s Super 35mm Flex Zoom lenses in 14-35mm and 31.5-95mm can be switched to full-frame relays, making them swappable between full-frame and Super 35mm cameras.

Canon’s R6 Mark II: A Must-Have for Filmmakers

The R6 Mark II has features that make it easy for filmmakers and those looking to get into the field. The camera comes with a full-frame sensor that can output 6K RAW to an external recorder. Internally, it shoots 4K, 10-bit 422 in AVC imagery. The camera has two SD card slots for simultaneous recording and can shoot in MP4 and AVC codecs. The R6 Mark II is comfortable in that mirrorless line of cameras that Canon has been putting out quite a few these days.

Canon’s R5C: Firmware Updates and Improved Features

The R5C has received a firmware update that has reduced the time it takes to switch between photo and video modes. The camera now has a power-saving mode that uses less battery power when shooting in 4k and XF ABC. Other quality-of-life features include an on-screen waveform monitor with different sizes to choose from, a magnification button for VR shooters, and an additional algorithm for the autofocus now for face detection.

Flex Zoom Lenses: The Future of Shooting with Canon

Canon‘s Super 35mm Flex Zoom lenses in 14-35mm and 31.5-95mm can be switched to full-frame relays, making them swappable between full-frame and Super 35mm cameras. The lenses are T1.7 all the way through, allowing for fast and efficient shooting. If you already have previous lenses, you can purchase a relay kit separately and switch them to a Super 35mm camera. The Flex Zoom lenses have a flexible design that allows you to swap the relays out and use them on different cameras.
