W and the Freedom Fighters is finally wrapped. Coming from the world’s easiest film set and two weeks of documentary editing, a six day shoot puts one’s endurance to the test.
The first two days were pretty easy, as we could only film a few scenes due to actor scheduling. Day three and four were the most intense. We were out in a field all day in 100+ degree weather. The main actor (George Bush) missed his flight in Vegas so our Second AD (who used to act before getting into Film School) had to step in, meaning I became UPM/2AD. I didn’t mind – I’ve got a thing for paperwork (partly explaining why my documentary is on cubicles). Plus I became the errand guy, meaning I’d get to take a nice break in my air conditioned car.
Day five and six provided a nice recoup with a 10am call time (again due to actor scheduling) and minimal grip and electric. The worst part was trying to stay entertained. I was able to catch up with my reading, as was everyone else.
Time to go put together this week’s coffee break.
