I’ll just ignore the fact that I haven’t posted in a while and jump right into the rules. As mentioned before, all weekend projects have had time restrictions, and also as mentioned before, they’ve generally been tossed to the wind (see rule number one). But this time they mean business.
The F1 can only have four minutes of content and one minute for credits. What images can be shown beneath the credits will probably lead to some debate. So far the talk has been if the images are part of the story, then it’s content. But I’m sure some creative arguments will arise.
None have begun yet since we haven’t started editing. That begins over the next two days, so we’ve had a nice week and a half to wonder if the footage will cut together properly and if we got all the shots we needed. It’s been fun…
But the length rule is pretty much the big one. There’s no limit on content that’s shown (except no kids or weapons, but that should have been figured out in development), but we have to give our film a rating. We also have a certain amount of time to edit, with a lock date sometime at the end of this month. If your film isn’t done by then then you risk big grade cuts, the possibility of not being in the F1 screening at the end of December, and public flogging.
And we have to share computers for editing, so that should be fun. And we have to work on F3s, a much larger monster to explained in a future post (possibly today, but don’t count on it).
