Jumping Above the Line

With Thesis films right around the corner, I’m about to begin my first job in an ATL position – Art Director (a job that I didn’t realize was ATL). Basically I assist the Production Designer with whatever they need. The film I’m working on is pretty contemporary – no space ships or elaborate sets are needed like some upcoming films.

The main tasks are to get a bunch of cameras with a flash for paparazzi and a fake baby. This job didn’t exist on F3s, yet it was constantly requested by the second-years. Obviously some sets need an Art Director more than others, but a second pair of eyes making sure what’s in front of the camera looks good is always great for production value.
